Future of the Black Swamp Players

March 1, 2018

The Black Swamp Players are saddened to announce that they are suspending production at the end of the 2017-2018 season for an undetermined period of time.

Any volunteer organization, such as ours, depends on having enough people to share the work load. Many of you are very familiar with just how much work goes into mounting a four (or more) show season. The BSP board and other volunteers have worked hard and well, but there are simply not enough of us to begin our 51st season.

Next January we will reassess the situation. The worst case scenario would be that BSP will close permanently. The best case scenario is that a mix of those volunteers who have sustained BSP in the past, current volunteers, and new volunteers (Perhaps some of you!) will join together and resume producing incredible live theater here in Bowling Green.

Members, thank you so much for your patronage. You should have received a letter from us yesterday or today. We are grateful for your support. We will have additional information in our next newsletter. This year’s Swampy Banquet will be on Wednesday, May 16.

Our current season is unaffected. Make sure to come see “On Golden Pond” opening April 20!
