The Premier Community Theatre of Bowling Green for 52 years

A Brief History

The Black Swamp Players was officially started on July 21, 1968. First-season productions included “The Anniversary” and “The Impossible Years.”

After decades of productions staged in city buildings, a church, an opera house and other locales, in 2019, BSP bought a historic church building at 115 E. Oak St. in Bowling Green, Ohio.

In 2021, renovations are underway thanks to generous grants from the state of Ohio and a local patron. We begin our 53rd season under construction, with many exciting changes ahead!
