Initial auditions will be Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12, from 6-9 p.m., at First United Methodist Church. You only need to come to one night, but plan to stay the full time. If you want to audition and cannot make either time, please contact Cassie Greenlee (firstname.lastname@example.org) to set up an alternate audition time. Click here for a list of characters.
Callbacks will be Thursday, December 14, from 6-9pm. Actors will be called for specific time slots, announced after Tuesday’s auditions.
Auditions are open to students and adults. Minimum age for auditions is eight years old.
For the initial audition, please prepare:
— 16-32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song. Songs from The Secret Garden are permitted but not required. An accompanist will be provided. A capella is permitted if necessary, but we would prefer to hear you sing accompanied, either by piano or a karaoke track. Please do NOT sing along with a recorded voice.
— For children, one of the attached monologues may also be performed during your singing slot. An audition monologue is not required, but may be used to demonstrate your memorization and character-building skills. Dialects are not required for these monologues, but if you’ve had training, you may demonstrate it here.
— Actors with dialect training in Standard English or Yorkshire are encouraged to prepare one of the character monologues to demonstrate their dialect mastery. Monologues are not, however, a required part of the audition. It is perfectly acceptable to audition if you do not have dialect training; dialects will be taught to the actors as part of the rehearsal process.
— Actors will also be asked to participate in cold reads from the script. Cold reads should be done without an added dialect.
After Tuesday’s auditions, certain actors will be called back for specific characters. At these callbacks, actors will be asked to sing and read for those character against other actors in consideration for specific parts. If you cannot make callbacks, please communicate that at your initial audition.
A callback is not a guarantee of receiving a role. Likewise, a lack of a callback is not an indication that you have not been cast.
The final cast list will be announced by Friday, December 15. The readthrough will be either Friday, December 15 or Saturday, December 16.
